Real Life

Many believers run away from our Father believing they are missing something exciting in their lives. They believe that the world offers something more fulfilling, something greater, and something different than the simplicity of being a Christian. It is true, — fancy homes, new automobiles, exotic vacations, and a variety of other material, physical, fleshly, carnal appetites can quickly cause a soul to wander from the fold of God. It is a fast, entertaining life-style. It has an insatiable diet that can only be maintained by good health and lots of wealth. Just like the story of the Prodigal Son, our Father allows us to make choices that are self-serving, selfish, and soul-destroying. But when the money ran out, the son ran home. Your faith is only as strong as your true worship of Jesus. Our disobedience to God’s will cause us to miss out on many of His blessings that strengthen us and increase our faith.

God’s purpose for our lives is revealed in His first commandment. It states in Exodus 20:1 “And God spoke all these words: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me…” Remember God is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Jesus came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.

In truly worshiping our heavenly Father, we can not allow worldly idols to enter in our lives and cause us to miss out on His blessings that will increase our faith. Our sole (soul) purpose in life is to worship Him. Worship is to love Him. He said, “If you love me, obey my commands.” In our faithful action of obedience, we give the world proof of our worship. Life is worshipping the King of Kings! To worship Him is to really live!

Good Parents

In Praise and Worship

Genesis 1:27 (NIV) So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
God’s purpose for His creation of Man and Woman is found in the subsequent verse Genesis 1:28 (NIV);
“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Father and Mother complete the image of God to our children. Not just a father or a single mother — both.

Every good parent wants the best for their children. They work diligently to provide a home, food and clothing. They, in turn, expect obedience and honor from their children. Good parents provide time for entertainment and recreation, for laughter, for bonding and for work. Good parents provide structure and stability for their children so that children know their responsibility, duty and limitations.

Everything we do should have boundaries. Anything (except Jesus!) done in excess is idol worship. I heard a pastor say that it is when “we take good things and make them godly things we create idols” in our life. The discipline set up by good parents should help their children flee the temptation to create idols. Satan knows that the best way to destroy the world is to divide what was meant to be Holy from the beginning, Man and Woman, Man and Wife, or parents. Divorce, broken homes, and homosexuality are steadily increasing. The image of God created in the beginning is being redefined by Satan, the world, and lost people. Especially, some men and women who call themselves “good parents.”
